Some times it takes people multiple times to understand howto handle their problems with drugs and alcohol. They may try to handle it through going to meeting, quitting on their own, or even just tapering off of the drugs or alcohol. On the other hand sometimes it only takes one time for someone to really get it and turn their life around. It is sometimes said that someone needs to hit their

Any person that uses drugs will always stay with them in there fat cells. So even if a person gets sober they will still have cravings to do the drugs because it stays in there body. All twelve step programs do not treat this specific problem, because they do not have the technology to do so. People who are addicted to drugs need a program that can actually pull the drugs from within there body.

There are many different kinds of addictions out there. Such as drugs, alcohol, and even addictions to gambling or even compulsive shopping! And there is a way out!! Twelve-step programs are unfortunatly not a very good source to get off of drugs or anyother kind of addiction because on average they only have a 30 something pecent success rate. Addicts need a rehab that has a higher success

People who are abusing drugs or alcohol need to realize that you do not have very many choices left. Except that you will go to jail, die, or get sober; thats all there is to it no buts or whats about it!! Unfortuantly most twelve step programs do not have the technology to keep a person sober for the long run. People who are addicted need a program with a high success rate, life courses, and

It happens that people get addicted to prescription drugs by accident. It happens all the time. Doctors often fail to warn people of the addictiveness of sleep aids, anti anxiety medication or painkillers. There's not a lot of solutions for pain other than pain killers or cutting the nerve that feels the pain. But really there are, they just aren't in the medical field. They are in alternative

We don't always think of alcohol as a drug. We don't think of cigarettes as drugs. We don't think of caffeine as a drug, or sugar. But to be honest, I am only passionate about those drugs that ruin lives on a really consistent basis. SUre, some people ruin their lives with sugar (by getting obese) or cigarettes (by getting lung cancer) but right now, I believe millions more lives are getting

Addiction is a hard master. It is relentless. Brutal. It changes people from loving humans to something less than human, to something that has no conscience, but only wants the drugs that make it feel like it can survive. Alcohol is no less of a monster. People get so addicted to alcohol that they can have seizures and die if they try to detox too fast. How evil is that? And how many ruined lives

When I see people coming in to the drug and alcohol rehab where I work, so many of them are miserable looking. They look totally ashamed. Sometimes they are wasted looking. Sometimes they can barely walk. And sometimes, it would surprise you, they look pretty normal but just a but dazed or defiant. It's not a happy thing to go into rehab. Moms have a hard time dropping off their kids, no matter
