Pain pills that are prescribed by doctors can be very helpful in managing pain when they are used correctly. When people get prescribed them and begin to abuse them they can become addicted very quickly. Just as soon as you are prescribed them you will begin to feel like you need them just to get by. Your body and your mind both feel this pull to the pills that is unlike anything else. This

Most people have a gentle re-entry to ordinary life ahead of them when they get home. Few people are immune to any stimulus in their home environment. One woman wrote the story of how she re-adapted to life. A little at a time. She didn;t go anywhere she wasn't comfortable being. If she went somewhere and started being uncomfortable, she promptly left. As she was home longer and longer, her

The terrible tumble, from productive loving person to one who cheats, manipulates, steals, lies and harms others through words and deeds. How do drugs do this? It happens over and over again. In a way, it doesn't matter. It only matters that it can be undone. But it's not a quick fix. Not a 28 day repair. For one thing, the drug residues have to be flushed from the body in order for the person to

There are prescription drugs that save lives. There are drugs that heal dangerous infections. But there are so many other prescription drugs that are just dangerous substances. Painkillers, mood elevators, sedatives, sleep aids, all can be addictive. If a person looks to these drugs to manage their life, they are living dangerously, probably without realizing it. But just let them try to stop.

So many people contact the rehab where I work who have gotten addicted to prescription drugs after they were taking them just as ordered. Or maybe they took them just as ordered for years and then found they were addicted and then kind of went out of control on them. it's so easy to do and doctors contribute to this problem. They don't get enough information from the drug company in many cases.

Any person that uses drugs will always stay with them in there fat cells. So even if a person gets sober they will still have cravings to do the drugs because it stays in there body. All twelve step programs do not treat this specific problem, because they do not have the technology to do so. People who are addicted to drugs need a program that can actually pull the drugs from within there body.

There are many different kinds of addictions out there. Such as drugs, alcohol, and even addictions to gambling or even compulsive shopping! And there is a way out!! Twelve-step programs are unfortunatly not a very good source to get off of drugs or anyother kind of addiction because on average they only have a 30 something pecent success rate. Addicts need a rehab that has a higher success

People who are abusing drugs or alcohol need to realize that you do not have very many choices left. Except that you will go to jail, die, or get sober; thats all there is to it no buts or whats about it!! Unfortuantly most twelve step programs do not have the technology to keep a person sober for the long run. People who are addicted need a program with a high success rate, life courses, and

When I was very young, I "solved" some problems with alcohol. Boredom, fear, nervousness, things I didn't want to confront, I made a few things go away with alcohol. If I had not found a really valid reason to pursue life when I was 20, I might have used this solution more. I think when people use drugs or alcohol as a solution and nothing stops them, like a spouse, a life occurrance or their own
